If I Were on Instagram — 4 October 2026

1. Sunset at our neighborhood beach. 2. Sunset swim with Míša.

This week I went to a yoga class in the sweetest little village called Alex. Our class was in the garden of this (left) 17th-century château.

After class, I had a wander through the village and found this memorial: A grateful tribute from the former pupils and residents of Alex to their devoted teacher Alice Déléan née Bouvier who was deported and died at the Mauthausen concentration camp on 20 March 1945.

1. Pier to paradise, Menthon 2. Sometimes I go for a walk only to find a bench to sit on and read. This was one of those days. Veyrier-du-Lac

1. On the way home, I found some sheep wearing bells. 2. First signs of fall.

A really good day for food! 1. Bernoline in Menthon-St-Bernard 2. Fondue at the new Haras in Annecy.

1. Our usual hike to Roc de Chère 2. Apparently it’s wild boar hunting season? We didn’t see any.

Míša and her not-so-happy tail.

P.S. I'll Have What She's Having goes out every weekend: a note + 5 good things (books, recipes, travel). You should sign up!
